Less Hair To Comb...
I have to say, I am pleasantly surprised by my new look. I hope my readers agree.
When the skin graft fully heals, things should look even better.
A photo of the right side of my head from July 2008. No sign of any enlarged lymph node in my neck.
I don’t know why, but I never took any pics of the enlarged lymph node. It was about the size of a grape just below my jawbone and showed up around the first week of September.
It was this symptom that led me to see the doctor. After a biopsy of the lymph node determined that melanoma was present, the doctors inspected my scalp to find the melanoma source. They discovered it just above my right ear.
A biopsy of that little troublesome mole left a few stitches above my ear.
I went in for surgery on October 10th. Four days and several pain pills later, I have enough wits about me to take a photo of myself.
The side of my head was shaved for surgery. Two cancerous lymph nodes and the melanoma source area were removed.
I’m discharged from the hospital later that day and I return two days later to have the bandage on the side of my head removed.
Here is what greeted me when the surgical bandage was removed. Besides the obvious skin graft area, I notice my right ear has swollen to about 130% of normal size.
The skin graft is ringed with stitches made of organic material that will dissolve over the next two weeks. Well, one thing I know, the lopsided haircut has GOT to go.
Yesterday, my buddy Phill came over to do the deed.
Depot Dad waiting for the clippers.
Phill and I met when we were twelve years old.
A job well done.
A few more shots of Depot Dad 2.0.....
