On a rare occasion a few days ago, I actually sat down in a coffee shop and orderred a cappuccino “not to go.” I sat down, took long slow sips, and drifted into a contemplative state. It didn’t last though because minutes later, I noticed, through the large window, a mother coming toward the coffee shop pushing a baby stroller and coralling two other small children around her.

Well, you might not have
suspected it, but when I’m not cleaning, caring,
cooking, shopping, and laundering, I also have a job.
I mean I have a job that pays money instead of hugs.

What Was That?
Ever have one of those
perfect days? I’ve been lucky enought to have just
had a perfect weekend. Wow. I don’t really expect
these to come around very often, so excuse me as I
bask in the glow for a bit. Today also has the added
bonus of being Oliver’s 7th birthday and I get to see
him and Amélie tonight after their having been with
their mother for the weekend. Geez. Yes, some guys
have all the luck. It just so happens that, for today
at least, that “some guy’ is me.
What? You want details? Yes, yes, I understand. Its
only that I’ve forgotten all the details and all I’m
left with is the buzz.

Single Parent Solidarity?
I currently live on the bottom floor of a rented two unit house. For the past two months, the upstairs unit has been blissfully vacant. About four weeks ago, the landlord started opening the upstairs unit on the weekends for people to stop by and look at it. Typically, when the landlord wasn't available, potential renters would knock on my door thinking I was the home owner renting the upstairs place.
