How to Make Depot Dad Happy

Thanks to the endless construction project going on right next door to my home, one of these shows up on my front doorstep every day...

Now typically these so called “roach coach” trucks serve a wide variety of foods guaranteed to reduce your life expectancy by a factor of years. But not so this one...

You see, since the vast majority of construction workers on the site here are hispanic, this junk truck serves authentic Mexican cuisine. It is run by a very nice Mexican family who knows how to cook the real thing.

And, as we all know, in these economic conditions, it is always good to keep your eyes peeled for a deal. Well, how does this look to you? Three tacos, al pastor. It comes with sliced carrots, grilled onions, radishes, lime wedges, and hot pepper. The tacos sell for $1.50 each. So, yes, this feast sets me back $4.50. Holy smokes! I can’t even eat at McDonalds for that price.

I just sat down this morning and enjoyed my meal and it made me so happy. I wish I could share how amazing the spices in the sauce are.

In so many ways, this has been such a crappy year for me. But here, I can’t complain. It is happiness in a truck that pulls up to my front door every day. Of course, the only reason I even get to enjoy this treasure is because business has slowed down for me and I frequently have my late mornings free of appointments. But it just goes to show that even in downturns, there are still plenty of upturns, if we just keep our eyes open.
